Theda Burrell

Theda is the CEO of Zuricare. A registered nurse, author and healthcare entrepreneur, she has over 30 years’ experience as a senior executive at leading nursing and rehabilitation facilities. She brings a wealth of knowledge in the operation of long-term skilled-care organizations, including the management of regulatory and compliance requirements. Prior to her leadership roles, she held positions of increasing responsibility in various clinical settings. She has written about the critical role of emotional intelligence in the nursing profession, and is a proponent of strategies to address inequities in healthcare that affect women and people of color. Theda is also interested in the education of and advocacy for caregivers of all backgrounds. She earned her BS and MSc. at Adelphi University. Together with a colleague, she published the study “How EI Got Its Groove Back: The Implementation of A Training Program in Emotional Intelligence at A Long-Term Care Facility” in The Director: Journal of The National Association of Nursing Administration in Long Term Care, 2019, Vol. 27, No. 2.​
